Computing

We base our Computing curriculum on the Bolton scheme of work which ensures pupils gain a solid grasp of the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to move onto further study at KS3.

Technology Agreements

Every child at St Catherine’s is introduced to their age-appropriate Technology Agreement. These agreements are a simple way of helping pupils understand how to use technology safely, responsibly and kindly—both in school and at home.

Each class talks through their agreement together, with children signing up to promises such as:

  • Using school devices respectfully and for learning

  • Keeping usernames and passwords safe

  • Being kind and respectful online

  • Telling a trusted adult if something they see makes them feel uncomfortable

  • Understanding why some games, apps or websites have age restrictions

We would be grateful if parents could take a few minutes to read through the agreement with your child at home. Talking it through together helps reinforce the message that staying safe online is a partnership between school and family.

If you ever have concerns about your child’s online experiences, please do get in touch—we’re here to help and can point you towards further advice and support.

Design Technology

Our Design Technology curriculum is bespoke. Pupils take part in designing, making and evaluating a range of different projects. These include projects involving mechanisms such as levers and food technology where pupils learn to bake both savoury and sweet dishes.
